Can You Tell, RaRaRiot
Tonight, Syracuse bred RaRaRiot take the stage for a sold-out Webster Hall performance. Their debut full length is out now on Barsuk, and the lovelorn Can You Tell is their latest offering. I can't get enough of this album and am very glad to finally see these guys in concert. I've missed them an ashamedly large number of times. No more. Tonight I'm playing catch up.

All Points West NY
The line-up has been announced and tickets are on sale. All Points West NY is on. Last year at the inaugural APW I witnessed Radiohead captivate and destroy Liberty State Park. It was one of the most incredible shows of my life. Radiohead has a history of life-altering shows on the Jersey side. I was in attendance for their August 17th, 2001 epic set. On the heels of Amnesiac and Kid A, with the landscape of the full NYC skyline behind them, Thom and the boys delivered an unforgettable performance.
I digress. Point being - Liberty State Park, Jersey City gives good show.
This year's APW NY includes The Beasties, Tool, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Silversun Pickups (love 'em), Elbow, Gaslight Anthem, and many, many more.
My 3-day pass has been acquired. Rock will be had. Though most likely I'll skip out on the Coldplay.

Post April Fool's Wrap Up
Trent Reznor offered us the finest of April Fool's delights - an entire NIN album produced by Timbaland! I can't wait to hear "Everybody's Doing It (Featuring Chris Martin, Jay-Z AND Bono)." And don't forget about that $10 digital service fee on your purchase.
nin.com/strobelight
In real NIN news - the guys are touring this summer with a re-formed Jane's Addiction. I'll be hitting up Jones Beach. Check the dates: ninja2009.com/tour. Hh and there is a real free EP you can get here: ninja2009.com.
Not to be outdone, Google offered us "Gmail Autopilot". One of my favorites - "Conclusion: Terminate Relationship." Ah Goog, you still got it. Merry April.

Why I Love The New Trail of Dead Record
Hot damn. When I caught ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead at The Syndicate's CMJ Showcase back in October '08 and they blew me away, as per usual, with their live show - I held out reluctant hope that they just might be able to deliver a record as ass-whomping as their live endeavors. I haven't been wowed by a Trail of Dead record since, well, Source Tags & Codes - although some of Worlds Apart buttered my bread.
But after a split with Interscope and a return to IndieLand with Justice Records, Trail of Dead have delivered a mid-career masterpiece. Century of Self is chock full of epic shout-alongs, sweeping movements of musical axe wielding, and enough build-ups and let downs to keep the ear entertained, no, on guard for all 13 tracks. Highlights include Isis Unveiled, Halcyon Days, Pictures Of An Only Child, Ascending, and on and on. I can't get enough of this record.
If you loved Trail of Dead once, pick up Century of Self and turn that sh*t up real loud. These Texans have delivered once again.
Here's Trail of Dead live with Bells of Creation from the new record.
Buy it.

John Carter Cash's New Children's Book
Grammy Award winning producer and son of Johnny and June, John Carter Cash is releasing his first children's book today. It's called Momma Loves Her Little Son. John and his wife Laura (who was a backup singer for June) even recorded a new song to accompany the book. I oversaw creative development for this animated video for the book, you can check it out below! John is also in the studio now producing two new records from Loretta Lynn, those will be her first releases since the Jack White infused Van Lear Rose in '04.

New PJ Harvey and John Parrish
PJ is back. This time alongside John Parrish for A Woman A Man Walked By. Coming 3/30. The first tune is killer with an acutely creepy video to boot. Stereogum had it first: check out Black Hearted Love. By some miracle I've scored tickets to see PJ with John at Irving Plaza this week. I cannot wait.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
